The invention relates to a method and a diagnostic kit for detecting infection of joint prostheses. The novel method and diagnostic kit of the present invention can be used to detect whether extracellular vesicles, isolated from neutrophil granulocytes extracted from synovial fluid taken from a joint, originate from an infected environment.
